I believe there is a vivid and sensual world, accessible to all of us, in the reality of the inner world. In that deep ocean, we find an understanding of not only ourselves but of each other. What we bring back up to the surface is the stuff we call art.
My work in the visual arts highlights my own preoccupation with the translation of memory into form, and the vibrancy of shared experience. Our existence is brief and fleeting, but spectacular; what are the odds we’d find each other here (on this planet, at the same time)? Aesthetically, this translates to not only an emphasis on vibrant palettes, but also attempting to balance on the line between meticulous observation of a subject and allowing things to come undone. Finding this loose, lyrical quality in my work is a continual place of fascination for me.
As I explore an ephemeral world through my creative process, I aim to maintain a gentle hold on ideas and feelings that slip so easily through the fingers of human experience.
